Contemporary dance combines elements of ballet, jazz, and modern dance to create a style that is expressive, versatile, and grounded in movement artistry. Classes focus on technique, flexibility, strength, control, musicality, and emotional expression while encouraging dancers to explore creativity and individuality.
Students participate in warm-ups, center work, floor work, improvisation, and across-the-floor combinations designed to develop coordination, balance, fluidity, and performance quality. Dancers learn to connect movement with music and storytelling while building confidence and strong technical foundations.
Contemporary classes provide a positive, encouraging environment where students are challenged technically and artistically as they continue to grow into well-rounded performers. Students must be in level 6 or 7 Lyrical for the fall 2026 season to take this class.
*Students need the Director’s Approval to take leveled classes. Placement in each level is based on Director and Teacher evaluations of the student.
